Mayor's Fund to Advance
New York City
Liza Minnelli performs
a tribute to Liz Smith,
at Sotheby’s
|
On January 27, 2004 syndicated
columnist, Liz Smith, along with Jack
Levy of Jack Levy Design hosted "Design
for Our City" at Sotheby's. The cocktail
party event featured many of New York City 's top designers, decorators
and suppliers who created and donated unique and extravagant items
for a live and silent auction. Some of the designers participating
included Jamie Drake, Lisa Jackson, McMillan, Eric Cohler,
Donghia, Michael LaRocca, MAC II, Juan
Montoya, Leonard Braunschweiger,
Thomas Jayne and Mario Buatta.
The evening benefits the Mayor's
Fund to Advance New York City which helps restore
programs and services to New York City schools and parks. The
evening inspired by the art of design was attended by some of
the most influential people in New York , and showcased the talents
of the New York City design industry. The event also honored Liz Smith for
her tireless work in raising awareness and funds for the benefit
of our great city. Liza Minnelli performed a
tribute to Miss Smith. Joe Calderon of Joseph Calderon Public
Relations successfully coordinated the event in spite of the blizzard.
House Beautiful,
Sotheby's, Patterson, Flynn & Martin, Ron Ben-Israel Cakes
and Bombay Sapphire were just some of the sponsors who donated
product and services.
